In this installment of UrbanTurf Reader Asks, a reader who is moving to DC from Rhode Island wonders if $400,000 will buy her a nice two-bedroom property in DC, or if she will need to start looking in Maryland and Virginia.

I am relocating to DC for work from Providence, Rhode Island at the end of the year. I would like to buy a two-bedroom property (doesn't have to be a condo), and my budget is between $375,000-$410,000. Ideally, I would like to stay below $400,000. I don't have to be in a very "hot" area, but I am looking for a rather spacious (900 square feet) unit. I'd like to be able to walk to the Metro and have at least one good bar or restaurant close to home. Is DC even a possibility at this price/amount of space or should I start looking in Maryland and Virginia?
