DCmud: New Residential Building Coming to Woodley Park
Believe it or not, there are plans to construct more residential units in DC proper. DCmud is reporting that a new four-story residential building with up to 14 units is now planned for Woodley Park.
The development is the brainchild of Sharam and Maria Taginya, the owners of Debonair Cleaners in Woodley Park, and Ashborne Developments, LLC, an Annapolis developer. Here is a description from DCmud:
“Entitled, surprisingly enough, the Debonair Residences, the project will include ‘up to’ 14 residential units and span the length of the existing one-story commercial outlets on site – Fusion’s Alley restaurant and Baskin Robbins, to name a few – from 2608-2612 Connecticut Avenue, NW, directly next to the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan Metro. A rear-entry garage will be built at basement level to reduce the scarcity of parking along the retail strip, accessible from 24th Street.”
Is this the beginning of another construction boom in DC? The answer is probably not, but we did report last week that local economist Stephen Fuller is recommending that construction start again in Northern Virginia, so maybe it is not such a far-fetched idea.
