DC Council Passes Bill Giving City Jurisdiction Over RFK Stadium Site

The DC Council passed a bill on Tuesday that opens the door for development around a potential new stadium at the site of RFK Stadium.
The Council unanimously passed the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium Campus Emergency Approval Resolution, which transfers the RFK site from the National Park Service to the District, and extends the stadium lease approved by Congress and former President Joe Biden.
"This transfer of the RFK campus will allow over seven million square feet of property to be developed for the benefit of our city and residents," Mayor Bowser said in a letter to the DC Council.
Now, the mayor must come up with an economic development plan for a new stadium that the Council approves.
The competition for the new stadium appears to be down to DC and Maryland, but Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris signaled to reporters on Monday that DC appears to have the edge right now.
