UrbanTurf is back from its week-long end of the year hiatus and is welcoming in 2013 with some housing predictions for the new year, courtesy of The Wall Street Journal.
Just before the end of 2012, the Wall Street Journal’s Nick Timiraos looked into his crystal ball and offered up a few thoughts for the real estate scene this year. While not all of Timiraos’ predictions resonate with the DC area market, a number do, including the fact that he expects rising prices to increase urgency among buyers (already happening in DC) and housing inventory to hit bottom (scary if that hasn’t already happened in DC).
Other predictions:
- Shadow inventory will continue shrinking.
- Credit standards will continue to remain tight.
- Home prices should continue to increase, but that all depends on the health of the economy.
