A Dupont Circle Church Along 16th Street Finds A Buyer

A church in a prominent location along 16th Street has found a buyer.
The Church of the Holy City at 1611 16th Street NW (map), listed for $5 million back in July, went under contract with contingencies earlier this week. There were four offers submitted on the listing, sources told UrbanTurf, and the buyer is another church congregation in DC.

When it hit the market this summer, listing agent Bo Billups told UrbanTurf that the church was selling because it had plans to move to a new space that will better suit its needs and size of the current congregation.
Built in 1894, the sanctuary building was designed by renowned architect H. Langford Warren. One of the potential conversion ideas pitched for the listing was high-end condominiums; none of the offers submitted was from a residential developer.
