One of the largest detached homes in Georgetown with a storied past just found a buyer.
The eight-bedroom house at 2727 Q Street NW (map) listed for $9.99 million with Michael Rankin of TTR Sotheby's International Realty went under contract with contingencies earlier this week. The East Village Colonial Revival sits at the corner of 28th and Q Street NW, and has an interesting history.

The 7,500 square-foot property was built in 1895 for the daughter of Thomas Hyde, a prominent DC businessman. The house remained in the family until the early 1960s, when the owner of the adjacent Evermay estate purchased it and made significant changes to both the interior and exterior of the property.
The current owners renovated the home with the help of architects Cunningham|Quill, Horizon Builders, and interior designer Thomas Pheasant.
Some of the more standout features include a chef's kitchen, the original staircase, a primary suite that takes up half the second floor, and a roof deck with views of DC, including the Washington Monument. The grounds feature mature trees, multiple terraces, and professionally designed gardens by landscape architect Richard Arentz. There is also a pool-sized yard and a motor court with parking for six cars.
Add this transaction to what is becoming a lengthy list of high-priced homes to make real estate headlines in the DC area in recent months. Here is a running list:
