The housing market and the country’s economy are in the tank, but despite that fact, we were shocked by the news we received this morning: President Obama has decided to sell sections of the White House and other government buildings to help pay down the rising national debt.
In an announcement early this morning, the White House said that it will put certain sections of the residence and West Wing on the market, and it is considering auctioning off the buildings that house the Treasury Department and the Department of Agriculture.
“Sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures,” an unnamed government source who wished to be called Deep Tote Bag told UrbanTurf. “I don’t really like the White House anyway. It’s kind of stale.”
Considering that Zillow recently put the value of the White House at approximately $300 million, we think that this is a brilliant idea!
