Amazon made its anti-climactic HQ2 news official on Tuesday morning when it announced that the company's second headquarters would be split between Queens, New York and Northern Virginia.
However, it also made headlines in the DC region for another reason as news came that a newly-branded neighborhood will be created for the online retail giant.

"National Landing is an urban community in Northern Virginia located less than 3 miles from downtown Washington, D.C.," the Amazon press release stated. "The area is served by 3 Metro stations, commuter rail access, and Reagan National Airport – all within walking distance."
National Landing is the combination of three areas in Virginia: Pentagon City, Crystal City and Potomac Yard. The name was the brainchild of local development officials in Northern Virginia's bid for Amazon's second headquarters.
If you know anything about the DC area it is that residents have strong feelings about neighborhood names and boundaries. Expect this newly branded area to come with a heathy dose of criticism.
