The asking price for a 24,000 square-foot McLean home that is still under construction has been revised to $35 million, nearly double the $18 million it carried when it hit the market last August.

The listing at 1171 Chain Bridge Road (map), held by Fouad Talout and Jack Spahr of Long & Foster Real Estate, is more explicit than most about why the number changed.

Much of the justification rests on what hasn’t been finished yet. The description leans on planned interiors: natural stone, statement chandeliers, refined flooring, sophisticated wall coverings and architectural lighting. All three kitchens are slated for European cabinetry and premium appliances, and the listing touts “expansive contemporary dressing rooms.”

Scale and privacy get their own billing. The home will spread out over 24,000 square feet on a private lot with garage space for up to 20 cars. The plans from Custom Design Concepts Architecture + Interiors still include a copper dome, a rotunda with 30-foot ceilings, a guest house and options for a pool, spa, safe room and outdoor pavilion.

The description also says that recent high-value sales in the surrounding market “provide relevant context for the revised pricing.” Here are a few sales in the past 18 months that may fall into that category:

  • The priciest Northern Virginia sale of 2025 was a McLean home at 6431 Georgetown Pike, which went for $22 million in October.
  • Down the road from the subject property, 1150 Chain Bridge Road, a 14,000 square-foot Langley Farms home, sold for $17 million in January 2025 after being listed at $22.25 million.
  • The Cliffs, the 35,000 square-foot estate perched above the Potomac that first listed for $39 million in 2022, sold for $25.5 million in October 2024, the highest price paid for a DC-area home in years.
