A new report out today from Bright MLS takes a look back at the DC-area housing market last year, perhaps the strongest market on record for the region. 

With 2020 in the rearview mirror, UrbanTurf breaks down a series of numbers that provide a picture of the market last year.

  • 52,766 -- The number of homes that sold in the DC region in 2020, up 3.3% from 2019.
  • $500,000 -- The median home price in the DC region in 2020, the highest price on record. 
  • $34.6 billion --  The total sales volume in the area, up 12% from 2019. 
  • 1.3-1.4 -- The average months of available housing supply in 2020, the lowest average in years.
  • $45 million -- The sales price for the most expensive home sold in the region last year.
  • $71,000 -- The sales price for the least expensive home sold in DC last year.
  • 48% -- The percentage of homes that sold in 10 days or less in DC. 
  • 19% -- The percentage of homes that sold for more than $1 million in DC. 
  • $740 -- The median price per square foot in West End.
