You’ll soon to be able to pay to park at Arlington County’s 5,329 spaces with a mobile app, just like you can in the District.
Arlington County announced Tuesday that it’s partnering with Parkmobile to bring the pay-by-phone service to all its metered spaces. The system will be implemented in phases. Shirlington and Crystal City will come first, with the service debuting in late July. Next up are Pentagon City in the fall; Ballston and Clarendon in the winter; and Courthouse, Rosslyn, Columbia Pike and the rest of the spaces in spring 2015, according to a news release.
County Manager Barbara Donnellan said in a statement that the technology, which charges a per-use fee, should make it easier for parkers.
“This new technology will make it easier for our residents and visitors to pay for parking,” she said. “Arlington is always looking for ways to provide the best commuter experience possible — whether you use public transportation, bike, walk, or drive in and around the County.”
As in the District, Parkmobile doesn’t replace other methods of payment. Spots with coin slots or the large multispace meters can still be paid in the flesh.
