Forest Hills Connection reported on Tuesday that the owner of the Days Inn at 4400 Connecticut Avenue NW (map) is interested in selling the parking structure behind the hotel to a developer. In order to be able to do this, the hotel must receive approval to provide fewer on-site parking space to guests; the owner is going before ANC 3F seeking their support for this approval.
If the hotel is able to sell the structure and a development is put on the boards, it would be the first substantial new project in the neighborhood in almost a decade. Back in 2016, B.F. Saul replaced the Van Ness Square retail complex with Park Van Ness, a mixed-use development with 10,000 square feet of retail space sandwiched between 271 apartments across from the Days Inn at 4455 Connecticut Avenue NW.
