News came last week that Ellisdale Construction will begin construction on a 31-unit condominium project at the corner of 14th and R Streets (map) around the middle of May. The developer is Habte Sequar, whose past projects include The Josephine at 440 Rhode Island Avenue NW and Renaissance @ Logan at 1618 11th Street NW.
This morning, UrbanTurf spoke with David Baker of Bonstra|Haresign, the architecture firm that designed the project over a year ago, to get more specifics about the development. Baker said that the scope (31 condo units, 18 parking spaces, and 3,000 square feet of ground-floor retail) and the design will likely not change very much as the concept already has Board of Zoning Adjustment and Historic Preservation Review Board approvals. He noted that any modifications will be “minor.”
“What will change is the name,” Baker said. Originally called The Axiom, that name has been taken by a residential project in the Capitol Riverfront.
No delivery date has been announced, but UrbanTurf will provide more details about this project as we receive them.
