In this week’s installment of UrbanTurf Reader Asks, a recent DC transplant who has been couch surfing, inquires about where she can get the most bang for her buck renting in DC.
"Since moving to DC a month ago for a job, I have been crashing on the couches of a revolving group of friends. My job has kept me busy, so I haven't been able to start my rental search in earnest yet, so I was hoping that the UrbanTurf audience could offer their two cents.
I can pay up to $2,300 a month in rent and I would like a two-bedroom, if possible, but know that can be more one-bedroom territory. I don't want to be more than a 5-10 minute walk from the Yellow and Green or Red Lines, and being within a similar walking distance to retail and restaurants would also be nice. Houses and apartments are both fine, although my rental limit will probably restrict my search to apartments.
