Sun-Filled One-Bedroom in Mount Vernon Triangle
Both this unit, and the Chevy Chase bungalow below were featured in our Best New Listings round-up last week. For this one-bedroom in Mount Vernon Triangle, we noted that usually condos in this area with a good amount of square footage that are listed at market rate have pretty high monthly fees. This one does not and could be one of the reasons it was snatched up a few days after it was listed. The living room has floor-to-ceiling windows that provide good 11th-floor views and the bedroom is large enough for a California King bed as well as three dressers. The building is FHA-approved and has two lounges with Wi-Fi (one meant for parties, the other for quiet internet surfing), a fitness center, a 24-hour desk and a roof deck with a pool.

1920s Three-Bedroom Bungalow in Chevy Chase DC
This three-bedroom Chevy Chase DC bungalow caught our attention last week for two reasons. The first is that each of the bedrooms has a good amount of space (frequently three-bedrooms in DC have two spacious bedrooms and one that is really a den or a study). The second reason is that the backyard is huge, and includes both a long brick patio and a parking pad that could fit two cars. The kitchen will likely eventually need updating, but that didn’t deter a buyer from snatching it up after it was on the market for a week.

A Three-Bedroom Within a Block of the Capitol
Earlier this week, we featured this three-bedroom house that is within a stone’s throw of the Capitol building. The main level of the property is long and expansive with exposed brick and has a kitchen with custom cabinets and Viking appliances. The listing also has a landscaped backyard as well as a rear parking spot. Someone out there liked all of the above as it was off the market within a few days of us featuring it.

Five-Bedroom Traditional Takoma Park Bungalow
It took a little longer than we expected, but this five-bedroom bungalow in Takoma Park now has a sale pending on it. The Takoma Park housing stock is known for its bungalows and front porches, and this listing meets both criteria. In addition to a large front porch, the home has a renovated kitchen to go along with a large living room, separate dining room, a study and screened porch on the first level. The multi-room master suite on the second level is quite large, and the above ground lower level has two bedrooms and a kitchenette, making it a good in-law or guest suite.

Takoma Park Log Cabin With Secret Room
We were big fans of this home in Takoma Park, largely because of the “secret room” built into its top floor. The listing agent explained that when the seller’s daughter turned ten, it became clear that she didn’t like being so close to her parents. So a local architect came in and raised the roof and converted what had been a storage closet on the top level into a room filled with light and its own deck. Another interesting feature of the listing is that there is a corn/wood pellet burning stove that supplements the home’s traditional heating system. A price reduction was necessary, but the home had a sale pending on it as of earlier this week.

A Treehouse with Rock Creek Park As A Backyard
This cantilevered, four-bedroom home in the Colonial Village section of DC was featured as an installment in Unique Spaces back in October. It caught our eye not only for its design, but also because it backed up to Rock Creek Park in the upper reaches of northwest DC and had a master bedroom level edition that is surrounded in glass giving it the feel of a treehouse. Despite its cool design, the home sat on the market for awhile, but after a price reduction it went under contract for what we would consider a bargain price.
