3733 Kanawha Street NW
As bungalows go, This Week’s Find is on the larger side, but that doesn’t affect any of the charm associated with the cozy property.
Built at a cost of just $6,500 back in 1911, the home’s first owner was a DC-based music publisher named H. Kirkus Dugdale who had an office at 14th and U Street NW. Since 1974, the four-bedroom, two-bath home has been owned by the same couple.
Living Room
Constructed with elements of fieldstone, cedar, pine, glass, metal, the listing has a wrap-around front porch, a large stone fireplace and 10-foot beamed ceilings in many of the rooms, including the double living space and large family room. Two of the bedrooms have enough room for separate seating areas, but our favorite spot may be the attic. Staged like a little, secret living room, the upstairs space looks like the perfect place for children to escape from their parents.
