The Price For A House in The DC Area Hit A New High in April

The price for a single-family home in the DC region hit a new record last month, following suit with overall prices

The median price for arguably the most sought-after property type in the area over the last five years came in at $840,000, according to Bright MLS. Up 8% year-over-year, it is the first time that prices have exceeded $800,000 for detached homes. 

A look around the region in April finds that a selection of neighborhoods that saw some of saw the highest year-over-year price increases were McLean (20%),  Chevy Chase DC (18%), and Bethesda (16%).

The rise in detached house prices in the DC area over the last three years has been eye-popping. In September 2021, the median price for a house was nearly $200,000 lower than it is today.
