With Memorial Day coming up, UrbanTurf is taking its bi-annual look at the neighborhoods across the city that have seen the highest home price appreciation this year.
In the table below, we outline the five neighborhoods in the city that have seen the largest increase in home values. In order to qualify for the list, a neighborhood had to record at least 10 sales this year. Also, if there was a wide disparity between the sales of single-family homes and condos/co-ops this year versus last year, we didn't include the neighborhood on the list.

The neighborhoods cover a wide geographic swath with Wesley Heights and Kent, two upper Northwest areas known for expensive houses, leading the way. Third on the list is Bloomingdale, a neighborhood where home prices shot up to almost $950,000 this year. Rounding out the top five are Takoma and Hillcrest. Interestingly, Congress Heights and Randle Heights, two neighborhoods east of the Anacostia River where prices have been shooting up in recent years, did not make the list.
