A recently-filed raze application could be a sign that plans to redevelop a pair of former church properties in Shaw into a large new condo project are moving forward.

The application filed last week with the city would raze the two-story structure at 1515 9th Street NW (map) to make way for a 45-unit condo development.

In 2022, Shiloh Baptist Church selected Monarch Urban to redevelop the 9th Street site  into a residential development. The address currently consists of a commercial building and a surface parking lot.

The new development, designed by KASA Architecture, will consist of a mix of one- and two-bedroom residences. The project will be subject to Inclusionary Zoning (IZ) Plus and will be required to set aside 18% of the condos for IZ units.
