What will replace the store is unclear at the moment. A proposal in 2014 to turn the site into a mixed-use development with 100 condos drew a good deal of opposition from the neighborhood. Safeway has entered into a ground lease with developer Trammell Crow who has not made public what their plans will be for the site.
