Monty Hoffman Lists His Personal Wharf Penthouse for $11 Million

When Monty Hoffman set out to build The Wharf, he didn't just invest his career in the stretch of DC's Southwest waterfront, he also bought a home there. Now, nearly a decade after moving into a custom penthouse at VIO (map), the Hoffman & Associates founder is putting it on the market. Penthouse 8 has hit the market at $11 million, making it the most expensive condo currently listed in the DC area.
Spread across two floors with retractable glass walls that open onto sweeping views of the Potomac River and East Potomac Park, the three-bedroom penthouse was designed to blur the line between interior and exterior living. Nowhere is that more apparent than on the private rooftop terrace — an expansive perch complete with covered and uncovered lounge areas, outdoor dining, a rooftop garden, fire features, a grill, and a skylight.
At $11 million, the listing puts Penthouse 8 in rarified company — and, depending on what it ultimately closes for, potentially record-setting territory. The DC area has seen only a handful of condos sell above that threshold. A penthouse at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Georgetown sold for $10.25 million in 2024, and a 5,500 square-foot unit at Amaris — another Hoffman & Associates development at The Wharf — sold for nearly $13 million in spring 2023, making it the most expensive condo ever sold in the city.
Custom-designed and never before sold, this penthouse has been Hoffman's personal residence since VIO opened. The home conveys with three garage parking spaces and three storage units, including one oversized storage room.
Michelle Giannini of Hoffman Realty is the listing agent.
