Plans For 80-100 Key Hotel at Union Market To Go Before BZA In 2024
A boutique hotel has been pitched for Union Market and it will go before DC's Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) next year.
EDENS has plans in the works for a four-story hotel that would replace a two-story commercial building at 1271 5th Street NE (map). The new hotel would be sandwiched in between an apartment building at 550 Morse Street and a planned 600-unit project that is part of Gallaudet University and JBG SMITH's sprawling plans for the area.

The upper three levels and penthouse of the new project would house hotel rooms, while the ground floor would include the lobby, as well as potentially a restaurant or other commercial, retail, and/or service uses.
EDENS is going before the BZA in the hopes of being granted relief from the site's parking requirements, as well as get approval for an eating and drinking establishment in the hotel penthouse. It will go before the BZA in February.
