Plans Filed For 717-Unit Redevelopment of Park Shirlington

Big plans are in the works to redevelop Arlington's Park Shirlington complex into an affordable and mixed-income residential project.
Standard Property Company and the National Foundation of Affordable Housing Solutions have filed preliminary plans with Arlington County to redevelop Park Shirlington, a 294-unit garden apartment complex at 4510 31st Street South (map) into a sprawling three-phase development with 717 residential units that will range from affordable to missing middle housing. KGD Architecture is designing the development.

The first phase of the development will create "dedicated affordable multi-family rental housing" and green space, per a presentation filed by the development team. The second and third phases would create "missing middle" and workforce residential options.
As the projects is in its nascent stage, UrbanTurf will provide updates as it moves through the approval process.
