Long-term mortgage rates inched back up this week.

On Thursday, Freddie Mac reported 6.49% on 30-year rates, up 6 basis points from last week. A year ago at this time, the 30-year rate averaged 6.72%.

“Mortgage rates have not changed much recently, but economic growth and housing affordability continue to improve for homebuyers as they shop for homes in today’s market,” Freddie Mac chief economist Sam Khater stated.

The UrbanTurf Mortgage Rate Disclaimer: The rates reported by Freddie Mac for 30-year mortgages are usually the best rates that the most qualified borrowers can get, so borrowers or those considering refinancing should not necessarily read this news and think that they can go out and get a loan with the quoted interest rate.
