Earlier this year, Amazon narrowed down over two hundred applicants bidding to be the site of the company's second full-size headquarters to 20 finalists. An even shorter list could be coming soon.
A recent New York Times article about the continued veil of secrecy surrounding incentive packages for the behemoth online retailer noted that there is supposition regarding the decision for where the new campus could land.
"There is widespread speculation that the company could cut the field down again as soon as this month, asking for best-and-final offers," the article states. "Amazon has not offered any updates, and a spokesman declined to answer questions about the process or the company’s plans on the record."

The DC area has three jurisdictions vying for the campus, with Northern Virginia, DC and Montgomery County, Maryland all on the shortlist. In the District, NoMa, Reservation 13, the Anacostia Riverfront and off Georgia Avenue near Howard University were put forth as potential sites; in Maryland, the White Flint area appears to be an early favorite, while Crystal City is emerging as the likely site in Virginia, along with Dulles.
