With his recent move to Los Angeles, former Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer will likely soon be putting his Virginia home on the market. Today, UrbanTurf takes a look inside.
This five-bedroom home in McLean has 250 feet of waterfront frontage and 180-degree views of the Potomac River. Scherzer purchased an older home at the site in 2015 and then spent two years building a new house.

Completed by a team comprised of Peterson & Collins, Thompson & Cooke and Joseph Richardson, the home is a combination of rain-clad mahogany and Carderock stone to blend into the surrounding environment.
Glass walls along the back of the home frame views of the river in the living room, dining room and kitchen. This level includes standout features like a 7-foot basalt fireplace in the two-story living room and a 14-foot marble island in the kitchen.
The upper level of the home consists of the master suite, with a coffee/wine bar and a private balcony, three more bedrooms and a home office. A two-tiered roof terrace has multiple seating areas, a mini-bar area and some of the most expansive river views in the home.
The lower level includes a family room and home gym, and leads out to the pool deck, infinity pool and outdoor entertaining area. Stairs then lead down to the lawn and river's edge.
The home was listed for sale last fall, but didn't end up selling. UrbanTurf suspects that it will re-enter the market in the coming months.
