A rendering of the proposed hotel at Parcel L1
In mid-February, Forest City Washington unveiled designs for a 225-key luxury hotel at Parcel L1 at The Yards. On Thursday, the developer officially filed a design review application for the project with the Zoning Commission.
In addition to 225 rooms, the ten-story hotel at 227 Tingey Street SE (map) will have a neighborhood bar, a restaurant, and a rooftop bar and event space. The Studios Architecture-designed building will primarily be composed of grey masonry brick, recalling the surrounding historic red brick buildings. A 6-foot setback will create landscaped balconies for the hotel guests along the third floor.

The planned hotel won’t be the only new project on Parcel L. Last summer, zoning approval was granted for a 285-unit residential building with ground-floor retail on the southern portion of the site.
The development will likely go before the Zoning Commission in the coming months.
