The largest condominium building in downtown DC in recent memory is currently under construction in Mount Vernon Triangle, UrbanTurf has learned.

Community Three is building Claret, a new 127-unit condominium development at 950 Third Street NW (map). Claret will be the largest condo building to deliver in the city in the last five years.

The new 12-story development is being constructed from the ground up, designed around a Heritage tree located at the address. Made up of one- and two-bedroom residences with and without dens, as well as penthouse units, Claret will feature a number of high-end amenities, ranging from a wraparound roof terrace with monument views to a state-of-the-art fitness center to a wine bar and lounge. Underground parking will also be available.

After a lull, the development of high-end condo buildings may be slowly picking back up in the DC region. Taicoon Property Partners has partnered with a high-end hotel chain on a new development that will include 94 luxury condominiums in Arlington. And plans are also moving along at the Four Seasons private residences in Georgetown.

Sales at Claret are expected to start in September with a targeted delivery date of next spring.
