CitizenM has opened its third DC hotel in Georgetown, a 230-room property along K Street NW, steps from the C&O Canal.
The site has a winding development history. The warehouse building at the address — which has housed The Berliner beer hall — was originally entitled for 54 condos by Willco Residential, before IDI Group acquired the property and received approval to move forward with that same residential plan. But in November 2021, a new development team filed a concept application with the city to pivot to a hotel. That plan ultimately prevailed.
Designed by Concrete Amsterdam — the hotel features guest rooms outfitted with XL king-size beds, 4K streaming TVs, rain showers, and an in-room iPad that controls lighting, climate, and window blinds. Common areas include a 24/7 canteen, a gym, and a lobby lounge. There is also a mural by DC-based artist J.D. Deardourff.
The hotel joins two existing citizenM properties in the District, one in Noma and one in Southwest DC.
