The six-story, 30-unit apartment project that Douglas Development has had in the works for 14th Street NW for several years will finally break ground in the coming weeks.
The development at 2221 14th Street NW (map) will consist largely of one-bedroom rentals, but will also have a handful of studios. There will also be just shy of 3,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.
Located on the site of a former auto body shop, the project was designed by R2L: Architects with a glass, metal, brick and terra cotta exterior.
Douglas Development, not surprisingly, has been making real estate headlines in other parts of the city as well recently. The much-talked about skating rink turned apartment project that UrbanTurf reported on a few weeks ago is coming courtesy of Douglas (and R2:L) and the firm is also behind the latest plans for Uline Arena.
