DC's Newest Apartment Concession: A Trip to Cuba

Along with more creative apartment amenities emerging on the market in DC, rental concessions such as a free month of rent or waived application fees are being replaced by more exciting options.
For example, Ditto Residential is taking a new approach to leasing up the just-opened Hendrix apartment complex on Florida Avenue NE — by offering every new tenant that signs a lease a free trip to Cuba.

“We discussed how we could do leasing incentives differently than you see in a traditional apartment building,” Ditto marketing director Callie Bruemmer explains. The answer was to team up with DC-based El Camino Travel to offer new tenants a trip to Cuba.
With the easing of US-Cuba relations starting in 2014 and the subsequent loosening of travel restrictions, El Camino saw its first trip to Cuba sell out within 48 hours. Now, anyone who signs a lease at the Hendrix during the month of February (for a lease term beginning prior to April 1st) will be able to select one of six upcoming trips to the island nation this year.
