Deal of the Week: A Wider Capitol Hill Home
Last Sunday, just a few days after it hit the market, 70 people dropped by the open house for this week’s Deal of the Week, usually a good sign that a home has been priced well.
807 D Street NE
The three-bedroom row house lies on the northern edge of Capitol Hill about three blocks south of H Street and five blocks north of Eastern Market. One of the notable aspects of the listing is that, at 19 feet, it is much wider than anything else in its price range in the area. The width can be seen on the main level, which has a large foyer and living room, a cross-cut staircase and a dining room with big side windows. There are two large bedrooms and a smaller “child’s room” on the second floor as well as a lower level that, while finished, could use some touching up. The house also has a large back patio and yard.
While price per square foot is an iffy metric by which to measure the value of single-family homes in the District (as it is hard to determine the taxable interior space on many properties), this home has an estimated price per square foot of $343, a low rate for any property on the Hill west of 13th Street.
