Bedroom at Common in Truxton Circle
Nearly six months after debuting its first DC co-living concept in the Truxton Circle area, Common will soon open a second location in the District — in Chinatown.
While their first DC location was met with consternation (and litigation) from neighbors and confusion from zoning officials, the company continues to add to its portfolio, with another site under construction closer to downtown.

The Chinatown location, dubbed Common Bowman, will be located at 6th and Eye Streets NW (map). Fourteen bedrooms will be divided among furnished apartments with built-in closets, washer/dryers and balconies, while the building will include a roof deck.
Common “memberships”, starting at $1,845 monthly, pay the costs of rent, WiFi and utilities and includes services such as weekly cleanings, regular community events (including group outings on the town) and access to various shared spaces. Members are also able to transfer between locations with one day’s notice. Common Bowman will be move-in ready on November 1st and is accepting applications now.
Correction: Previously, the article inaccurately described the apartments as “microunits”; that has since been clarified. There are 14 furnished bedrooms in several larger apartments throughout the building.
