Best New Listings: Contemporary Makeover on the Hill and A Taste of Another Era in Mt. Pleasant
In this week’s edition of Best New Listings, UrbanTurf looks at a Capitol Hill rowhouse with a contemporary interior, a Mount Pleasant two-bedroom, and an updated rowhouse on the northern fringes of Petworth.

Mount Pleasant Two-Bedroom With Bay Windows
The Argyle in Mount Pleasant was built in the early 1900s; perhaps for that reason, the interior of this two-bedroom feels similar to that of many rowhouses built in that era. There are bay windows to create bright areas in the living room and master bedroom, a fireplace, separate dining area, and a walk-in closet in the master bedroom. The owners enjoy condo perks as well, like a rooftop deck with views of the Cathedral and the Washington Monument, and a bike room in the basement.

Updated Rowhouse on Northern Edge of Petworth
Located on the northern fringes of Petworth, this three-bedroom is attractively updated and has a layout that feels typical of the area, with a living room, dining room and kitchen on the main level, and a large master bedroom and two smaller bedrooms upstairs. One of our favorite features is the bright office area attached to the second bedroom (see photo above). A finished basement is currently being used as a family room, and could be a potential guest room. The home is a ways from a Metro station, perhaps explaining the lower-than-expected asking price.

A Contemporary Makeover on Capitol Hill

This federal-style rowhouse has undergone a clean, contemporary and high-end renovation that makes the most of its narrow square footage. The interior feels rectangular and streamlined, with cabinetry, closets, and kitchen and bathroom features that seem to take up as little space as possible. There is also ample storage: in the master suite, which spans much of the second story, one wall is entirely lined with closets, presumably to keep the home as uncluttered as possible. The property is just south of Lincoln Park and set back a ways from the street: a brick wall with a proper door opens at the property line, and a sizable brick patio, complete with a fountain, leads to the house itself.
