In this week’s edition of Best New Listings, we look at a lofty two-level, one-bedroom unit in Columbia Heights, a four-bedroom cottage in Takoma Park, and a five-bedroom farmhouse in The Palisades.
Lofty Two-Level One-Bedroom in Columbia Heights

Located on Harvard Street in a boutique condo project built four years ago, this one-bedroom is spread out over two levels, with the living room, kitchen and a half bath on the first level, and the bedroom and full bathroom on the second. The 700 square-foot condo has a number of windows, a good deal of closet space, and an in-unit washer/dryer. The unit gets exposure from two sides, which means that during the day there is always a fair amount of natural light coming in.

Four-Bedroom Cottage in Takoma Park with Architect-designed Screened Porch

This four-bedroom cottage sits elevated from Poplar Avenue less than a mile from the Takoma Metro station on the Red Line. The amenity that caught our eye was the rear screened porch (designed by local architect Rick Vitullo), but there are a couple other “crafty” things worth mentioning about the house. The glass doors that lead from the dining area to the porch are framed in antique lumber, and the steps leading up from the street and the wall surrounding the front yard are made of hand-crafted stone. The home also has a finished lower level and a rather large attic area.

Five-Bedroom Farmhouse in The Palisades

This five-bedroom farmhouse in The Palisades is filled with porches. There is a large front porch, a screened porch on the first level like the Takoma Park home above, and an enclosed porch on the second floor. There are three bedrooms on the second level and the third floor is made up almost entirely of a master suite with a bathroom and balcony. The home also has a large lower level and a two-car garage in back.

- Bedrooms: Five
