Best New Listings: Brick Nooks, Reservoir Views, and a Stately Condo
In this week’s edition of Best New Listings, we look at a Capitol Hill row house with lots of brick, a Palisades home with views into the reservoir, and a Mount Vernon Square condo with a stately feel.

Brick Nooks on Capitol Hill
Lately, we have been hearing readers bemoan the modern-looking interiors that fill many row houses around DC. This Capitol Hill federal-style home bucks that trends, with dark mahogany moldings, differentiated rooms rather than an open floor plan, and, most noticeably, a kitchen that feels straight out of the revolutionary era. (In lieu of cabinets, it is full of brick nooks with arched openings.) The brick-heavy style continues into the dining room, which has several exposed brick walls and is sunken, for added coziness.

Reservoir Views in Palisades
This three-bedroom exemplifies much of what people want in a Palisades home: mature trees, privacy and cozy rooms. The house also has a nice addition on the back: a family room with a slope ceiling looks out into the backyard, which has space for an eating area, a swing set and two lounge chairs (all nicely shaded by the tall trees and fence). And while the house isn’t on the Potomac, the views into the Georgetown Reservoir are a calming alternative.

Stately in Mount Vernon Square
The Wisteria Mansion is a well-regarded, 70-unit condo building in Mount Vernon Square, a few blocks away from Logan Circle. For those willing to live right on Massachusetts Avenue, this one-bedroom offers a certain stateliness and a few charming details, like glass doorknobs, cool chandeliers, and a clawfoot bathtub. The relatively tight square footage means a smaller kitchen, but the living room is comfortable and the bedroom has a pretty good-sized closet.
