Arlington County Approves First Gold LEED Building

Arlington County Approves First Gold LEED Building: Figure 1

In a sign of progress for green construction in Northern Virginia, Arlington County’s first Gold-certified LEED residential building has been approved, according to the Washington Business Journal.

The building will be located at 2009 North 14th Street (see map here), a block south of the Court House Metro station on the Orange Line, and have over 250 apartments and 15,000 square feet of retail and office space. The mixed-use project, designed by Lessard Urban Inc., will have low flow plumbing, a recycling room, and get up to 35 percent of its power from a green source grid.

Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing the finished product for some time. The WBJ says that construction won’t start for a year, and it will be at least three years before the building is complete.
