Room & Board
On March 13th, UrbanTurf launched a giveaway to show appreciation to our readership. We decided that UrbanTurf readers not only spend a lot of time looking at residential real estate, but also perusing/wasting time at various local furniture stores figuring out ways to outfit their homes. So, what better way to start off spring than to give away $500 to a lucky reader to use at one of these stores. A few weeks and several hundred entries later, we have a winner: Come on down, Elizabeth Golembeski!
Ms. Golembeski is a 33 year-old program director at Camp Blue Skies, a camp for adults with developmental disabilities. While her sister is a DC resident and avid reader, Elizabeth spent the last several months in a tent in the wilderness of North Carolina. However, her win couldn't have come at a better time as she recently bought a home with her fiance in Ashevlle, NC.
As readers may recall, the winner was given the choice of four stores in DC where they could spend their winnings:
- CB2, Crate & Barrel's kid sister in Georgetown that caters to urban dwellers short on space.
- Miss Pixie’s, the seller of secondhand "furnishings and whatnot" behind the pink facade on 14th Street in Logan Circle.
- Room & Board, the Minnesota-based purveyor of classic modern, also on 14th Street.
- GoodWood, the vintage-y furniture and funky home decor shop on U Street.
Golembeski decided to go with the high-end offerings at Room and Board. "I have never been able to afford any of the beautiful things there, but have window shopped countless times," she said. "I have always loved visiting and going to local stores and am thrilled to bring some DC love to my new home and life here in Asheville!"
Congratulations, Elizabeth and to those who entered and did not win, do not fret...another contest/giveaway from your favorite real estate news site is coming in the next several months. Comments about this context or suggestions as to what we should do next? Email us at editor2011@urbanturf.com.
