A Whole Foods and 699 Residences In Pentagon City Get Approval
A positive vote this weekend brings a massive Pentagon City project, that would include a Whole Foods market and 699 apartments, one step closer to reality.
The Arlington County Board voted on Saturday to approve the site plan for a 22-story building with almost 700 residential units and approximately 40,000 square feet of ground-level retail space at 1200 South Eads Street (map). The majority of the retail space would be used for a Whole Foods market. There is currently a warehouse at the address, which sits just across from the Pentagon City Costco.
The approved buildings are phases 4 and 5 of the massive Metropolitan Park project. Two of the first three stages, apartment buildings The Gramercy and The Millenium, are already built and the third phase, The Acadia, is under construction. The plans approved on Saturday also included an 885-space parking garage.
