A 415-unit residential development with a large public amenity is on the boards near downtown Silver Spring.
JLB Realty has plans in the works to redevelop the site at 9801 Georgia Avenue (map) into a new residential development with up to 415 residential units, parking, private amenities, and approximately 5,000 square feet of retail. The building was designed by Dwell Design Studio.

One of the more prominent features of the project will be a public plaza that will run along Forest Glen Road, adjacent to Georgia Avenue.
"This space is envisioned to become a public gathering space, where commuters as well as residents of the adjacent community can come to interact, run errands, and enjoy a cup of coffee," documents filed with Montgomery County stated. "While the design of the plaza will be further refined at the time of site plan, it is currently envisioned that the plaza will largely be hardscaped, with outdoor seating and lush landscaping."
The new development will likely go before the Montgomery County Development Review Committee in the coming months.
