The story in the DC-area housing market in recent months has been low supply, high demand and even higher prices. Today, UrbanTurf is taking a look at some of the least expensive markets in the city in 2020.
To determine the most affordable housing markets, we looked at the advertised subdivisions in DC with the lowest median home sales prices this year. (Neighborhoods were required to have at least 20 home sales this year to qualify.)
The least expensive markets are split between opposite sides of the city, with Marshall Heights, a neighborhood east of the Anacostia River, the most bargain-friendly with a median price of $294,500.

The next two neighborhoods on the list -- Foggy Bottom and Observatory Circle -- are the only NW DC entrants. While homes in these areas can be expensive, the median prices are low given the high volume of condo and co-op sales there. Rounding out the list are Congress Heights and Deanwood where, despite prices rising annually, the neighborhoods remain some of the city's most affordable.
