$2.5 Million and Up: Luxury Home Sales Rise 20% in DC Area in 2024
It has been a good start to the year for high-priced homes in the DC region.
Home sales north of $2.5 million are up nearly 20% so far in the area, according to data from Bright MLS. The sector that saw the biggest jump was the $2.5 million to $5 million segment, where sales rose 25%; sales of $5 million+ homes were essentially flat, year-over-year.
While high interest rates are putting a damper on much of the housing market, that doesn't seem to be the case in the upper brackets. Last fall, Daniel Heider of TTR Sotheby's International Realty told UrbanTurf that most buyers for these high-priced homes are paying cash.
