A penthouse in Friendship Heights has taken the title as the most expensive condo on the market in the DC area.
The two-floor, 9,100 square foot residence at Somerset House II hit the market on Monday for $10.5 million. The condo, which hasn't been on the market in decades, is listed with Jamie Coley and Zelda Heller of Long & Foster Real Estate.

The residence has many trappings of a unit carrying this price tag. There is a wood-paneled library, a restaurant-worthy bar and a huge salon space with 18-foot west-facing windows. The primary suite has a sitting room with a fireplace, two dressing room areas, two separate baths (one with another fireplace), and a steam/sauna room.
The home has several spacious terraces throughout the two levels, and comes with not one, but four garage parking spaces. Somerset is one of the more luxurious condo complexes in Montgomery County, featuring 24-hour security, tennis courts, indoor/outdoor pools, a state-of-the-art gym, and a racquetball court.
The idea that only large houses carry an 8-figure price tag in the DC area is becoming a thing of the past. A year ago, a penthouse at the Ritz-Carlton residences in Georgetown sold for $11 million. And two weeks ago, a 5,500 square-foot unit at Amaris, a new luxury development at The Wharf, sold for nearly $13 million.
