1 in 3 Homes in DC Sold at a Premium in 2021

A record number of homes sold for above their original listing price in DC last year.
Approximately 34% of homes sold in the District in 2021 fetched more than their asking price, based on data provided to UrbanTurf by Bright MLS. This is up from 30% of homes selling at a premium in 2020, and just 10% in 2019.
Of the 10,490 homes sold in the city last year, 3,590 sold for above their list price. Capitol Hill and Columbia Heights had the highest volume of homes selling at a premium, and in certain neighborhoods, the proportion of homes that attracted multiple offers was well above 50%.

The upper NW neighborhoods of AU Park, North Cleveland Park and Chevy Chase led the way with 60% of homes selling for above asking.
There were several other neighborhoods where more than 50% of homes sold went for above asking, including Woodley Park (57%), Kingman Park (56%), Takoma (52%), and Shepherd Park (52%).
