Washington Spirit Owner Michele Kang Lists DC Home for $14.5 Million
Michele Kang, the majority owner of the Washington Spirit soccer team, has listed her DC home for sale, UrbanTurf has learned.
The 11,000 square-foot house in Massachusetts Avenue Heights is listed for $14.5 million with Mark McFadden and Hunter McFadden of Compass. Kang purchased the home for $8.75 million in 2019 from Debra Lee, the former chief executive officer of Black Entertainment Television.
The house, designed by Marshall Moya Design, a local architecture firm that helped design DC's Audi Field, has a curved facade that makes it stand out among the more traditional homes of Massachusetts Avenue Heights. The centerpiece is a 20-foot tall great room, but the rest of the house also lives up to its size. The master suite, for example, has a wall of windows that looks out on Rock Creek Park, a fireplace, and an adjoining dressing room.

There is a full theater and media room, a wine room, a sauna, a pool and an exercise room. In addition to five outdoor terraces, there is an eight-car garage. Potential buyers are required to register showings at least 24 hours in advance.
Kang, founder of health-care technology company Cognosante, is the majority owner of the Washington Spirit and the first woman of color to own a controlling stake in a National Women’s Soccer League team.
