In Under Contract, UrbanTurf looks back at properties it has featured recently that were snatched up by DC’s alert buyers. In this edition, we cover homes the went under contract in about a week or less.
Estate Sale of an Eckington Victorian
Two Fridays ago, we featured this Eckington estate sale as one of our Best New Listings. The home was in need of some updating, but had similar bones to the surrounding homes in the neighborhood. As we imagined, the home attracted interest and found a buyer within a week. Interestingly, the price was raised from an initial $425,000 to $537,000 on the same day that the home went under contract.

Takoma’s Cutest Bungalow
The last installment of This Week’s Find was a bungalow in Takoma that had yet to hit the market. We deemed it the cutest for-sale bungalow in the area, and someone clearly agreed, as it found a buyer in just about a week. The three-bedroom home has some cool family-oriented features, including a secret tree house in the backyard and a nursery that is attached to the master bedroom.

A couple weeks ago, we highlighted one of the units in What $540,000 Buys You. The unit is unusually vertical, with many stairs, 18’ ceilings, and a rooftop deck, and found a buyer in just over a week.

Dupont Circle Two-Bedroom in a Former Embassy
This condo was featured in Best New Listings a little over a week ago. It is in The Duncan, the former Taiwanese Embassy on 18th Street that was converted into condos about ten years ago. (Before that, it was the lavish home of a wealthy man named William Duncan McKim.) The two-bedroom corner unit spreads out over 1,019 square feet, and has a fireplace, a kitchen with Wolf and Sub Zero appliances, and a front-loading washer/dryer. It found a buyer in just under a week.
