A Speedy Sale for a Farmhouse Feel

This spacious arts and crafts home in Brookland has touches on the outside and inside that evoke the feel of a farmhouse, from the smoky blue exterior paint and front porch to the U-shaped kitchen with double sinks. The living room and dining room share a coffered ceiling and a bay at the side of the house adds visual interest. Upstairs, the master suite has a trio of windows, a separate seating area and a rain shower in the en suite bath. The lower level has a built-in wine rack and wet bar alongside the rec room. A rear wooden deck walks down to the two-car garage. Listed on a Thursday earlier this month, the home was under contract six days later.

Six-Day Itch in Hill East

While this Hill East condo listed and went under contract on the same schedule as the listing above, the similarities end there. At 840 square feet, the two-bedroom unit is one of a pair in a townhouse-like duplex and has its own brick pathway and entrance. Once inside, an exposed brick wall parallels the living area and segues into a fireplace that sits at an angle with a tiled hearth. A partial partition has storage hooks and delineates the living area from the kitchen, which has a breakfast bar and exposed brick walls on either side. The accent brick continues down the hall to the bathroom and both bedrooms. The master bedroom provides the sole access to the brick-paved rear patio, which is shared with the upstairs unit.

Four Stories in 18 Days

Across town in Chevy Chase, this four-story red-brick colonial sits at the end of a manicured lawn and a slate walkway and has an equally impressive backyard. The semi-open main level features a family room, breakfast room, and a column-framed doorway separating the living room from the formal dining room. The galley kitchen breaks tradition with vivid blue countertops that also wrap the corner along one wall. On the second floor, the third bedroom has a connected bonus room with double exposure. The top floor serves as the fourth bedroom and has separately-enclosed storage areas on either side. There is also a lower level in-law suite.
