This Week's Find: A Lofted Perch on the Hill

Usually, the ‘open floor plan’ concept is limited to the main level of a row house or condo, with a living room that opens up to a dining area and kitchen. However, the open feeling of This Week’s Find, a Capitol Hill row house that won’t officially hit the market until Thursday, can be found throughout the entire property. The industrious couple that owns the home knocked down walls on the second level (in addition to lower two floors), so that the master bedroom is on a lofted perch. To get a sense of the layout, take a look at the photo to the right.
Despite the modern floorplan, the features and fixtures around the home are more historic. The stained glass transoms, with curvy, mosaic-like designs, have been maintained for over a century, and the home also boasts extensive woodwork, with the original hardwood floors, bannisters and fireplaces still intact. The master bathroom has historic charm with a clawfoot tub and a tin ceiling. The bathroom, in addition to the rear brick patio and enclosed porch, may be UrbanTurf’s favorite feature.
