This Week's Find: A Gurney With 23 Closets

127 Quincy Street, Chevy Chase, MD.
Like many Robert Gurney-designed homes, This Week’s Find is modern, bright and clean. However, the Chevy Chase listing likely has more storage than any other home designed by the DC-based architect.
The facade of the four-bedroom is a modern take on a classic suburban house; the peaked roof echos the traditional designs of the homes that surround it, but the steel porch, bright white materials and oversized windows from a 2007 renovation mark it as undoubtedly modern.
On the inside, the home is all contemporary clean lines and open spaces. Gurney trademarks, like floor-to-ceiling doors, a prevalence of glass and a wide entry walkway, are visible throughout. The owners’ favorite rooms include the open living room, kitchen and the master bedroom, which has a glass transom below the ceiling, making it feel as though “the roof is floating above the walls.”
As for the 23 closets, here is owner Ted Peterson’s explanation for why that much storage is needed. “There is a place for everything and everything in it’s place, thus allowing for a clean and pristine presentation of the living spaces at all times.”
