Home furnishings and finishes run a wide gamut in DC, but a two-unit property near Union Market and the H Street Corridor has raised the bar when it comes to custom-built accessories.
Warmington Oppenheim Development purchased 1107 6th Street NE in 2016 and then set about on an extensive rehabilitation of the property.
Central to this renovation was Mick Mier.

Mier, a DC artist who helped design DC restaurants including El Chucho, Bar Charlie and Slash Run, custom-built or designed virtually every aspect of the interior.
And many of the aspects are unlike anything you will find in another DC home. A roll-up garage door was installed in the upper unit, separating the interior from an outdoor space. A custom-built booth in the kitchen was inspired by 1950s car seats. The range in the kitchen is commercial grade and an adult-sized bunk bed was custom-built for the front bedroom.
Mier handpainted the spiral staircase in the property and together with WOD principal Matt Oppenheim found multi-colored tiles at a second-chance store in Baltimore, broke them up and then combined them with liquid glass to make a bar-like seating area in the property.
'Mick told us that the design for the project would reveal itself as we went along and that is just what happened," Oppenheim told UrbanTurf.
WOD Development is now selling the two-unit property, furniture and the majority of furnishings included, after years of listing it on Airbnb. More details below.
